Grunchkin’s Fabulous Wedding

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

I thought I’d start a Photo Roll to share a view into my Luxemix life.

This was one of the most beautiful, classy to just crazy weddings I experienced. The ceremony was held at a church in San Francisco and the reception at the grand Asian Art Museum. This is a photo of the bridesmaids. Can you pick me out??

Michjohn_49

The bridesmaids dresses were provided by the bride (thanks Grunchkin!!) and they were designed by the one and only Vera Wang. The wedding color scheme consisted of fresh greens and clean whites and complemented with black. I thought the black was going to be a little severe but as you can see from this picture it was so elegant and classy.

MCM Patent Medium Duffle Tote Handbag

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

Mcm

Patent has been in for some time now and I’ve refrained from splurging on the patent bags I’ve crossed paths with but this one from MCM is really making things hard on me. I fell in love with the subtle hardware detailing and the bold structure and roomy boxiness. I’m feeling very weak right now.

I first learned of MCM while on my travels in Korea. I started seeing these bags featured in some stores out there. At first I thought it was some kind of Asian luxury brand. After coming back here I looked around for it and found out it’s actually a European brand that was hot back in the 80’s. MCM is makin’ a comeback! The MCM Patent Tote may just be my Fall 2007 It Bag!!

Take a Shot at the Ron Herman Denim Bar!

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

As I’ve told you before I get the warm fuzzies whenever I see fashion retail sites that put some thought into the User Experience/User Interface. I mean if we’re going to be spending hours on these sites shopping for clothes the least they could do is make it a little easier for us to make our choices, make it a little easier to compare items and view stuff in different angles and distances.

So anyway when I went to Ron Herman’s Denim Bar I got really giddy to see the very simple but helpful view of the jeans they’ve provided. As you roll over each jean an alternate view of the same jean is shown. This reduces the amount of clickclickclicks you gotta do to decide whether you’re interested in a pair of jeans or not. Also the pictures on the listings are large enough you really don’t even need to click on each pair for a closeup. Sites like shopbop and neimans have such tiny thumbnails you have to roll over or click on every single item to get a close enough look at them. To be honest fashion retail sites have SUCH a long way to go before they maximize wen technology to make our lives easier!

Just a quick thought I had to share! Happy hunting…

BCBG Finally Opens Doors to their Online Store!!

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

This is the day I’ve waited for!! BCBG has finally re-opened the doors of their online shop. It’s about time.. those biznatches. I hate BCBG the business. And really.. who doesn’t? But we all can’t help but love their clothes. Retarded return policy. That’s all I have to say. But enuff of the ranting.. they have finally opened their online shop up and I’m pretty happy about that. Since I don’t have time to shop as much anymore at least I can take a peek online once in awhile.

And get this.. they actually let you RETURN stuff.

BCBG Online Store Return Policy
We want you to be fully satisfied with every item that you purchase
from bcbg.com. If you are not satisfied with an item that you have
purchased, you may return the item within 30 days of delivery for a
full refund of the purchase price, minus the shipping, handling, gift
wrap, and other charges.

Hallelujah! Even better reason to shop online. Does this mean they’ll update their in-store policy too???

Before I go, had to leave you with my top picks from the site.

Tokidoki Ciao Ciao Flap Bag

Monday, September 10th, 2007

Chic and Untroubled got me thinking about Tokidoki… My first encounter with Tokidoki was in a little shop in San Francisco called Parklife. There was just a bunch of random interesting items and my eye was especially caught by this little toy figure.. who turned out to be Mozzarella (right). I fell in love with Tokidoki from this day on! I wish I could find a huge oversize doll of Mozzarella for my room! Yes, I need to grow up..

Anyway.. found this super cute bag on Nordstrom.com. I don’t know how often I’d be able to wear this but I just want it!

Yves Saint Laurent Uptown Patent Bag

Sunday, September 2nd, 2007

This fall season feels like The Handbag Depression. Have all the handbag designers fallen asleep at the wheel? I’ve never been so unenthusiastic about the handbag lineup. It seems all the styles have merged and submerged and the creativity that seemed so abundant these past years has dried up. Well, I suppose this is a good thing for me so I’m not tempted to actually buy one!

I will say however that YSL continues to have a stronghold on me and I’m not terribly disappointed with their new sister of the Downtown Bag — the Uptown Bag. It’s structured shape would be a refreshing change the slouchiness of the Downtown, and perfect for the colder weather approaching.

If (IF) I were to pick one of these up I’d go for the classic black. The colors shown above seem subtle but with a bag that seems like it’d survive a shipwreck I’d opt for a trendless color since I’d hope to pass it along to my little girl one day :)
