For those of you who don’t know me, I got married last
November, 2006. Those of you who were there I’m sure
recall how chilly it was that night
But I hope you also retained some
fond memories of the ceremony at Villa Montalvo, the reception on the
veranda, YS and my first dance to “Everytime I Close My Eyes” by
Babyface, the pink roses and peonies, the navy satin table dressings
with ivory satin accents, the matching navy satin bows adorning the
4-tiered wedding cake, and the wedding stationary perfectly coordinated
with the wedding invitations… of course you do right??
Now that you understand my theory behind Luxe Mixin‘, you can see that I’d most definately mix some luxeness into my own wedding! The goal was to incorporate the most luxurious of things with the most practical and affordable in such a way that the wedding guests would never know what was high-end, low-end, and homemade since it would all come together to create an elegant and tasteful experience.
Here is a peek into my wedding as well as all the resources I collected over the span of those 5 months of madness (hopefully some of you going through the process can leverage). Feel free to ask me any questions!

Below are all the Kaboodle lists I put together while researching/planning my wedding. They contain all the sites I found and liked, or the items I was considering using within my wedding. Yes, I’m obsessive.
Other Helpful Resources
Wedding Itinerary Template – I must give proper credit where credit’s due. The Choister (aka Mayor of San Francisco since she knows just about everyone here) and her friends supplied this template to me. It was a lifesaver. It provides the basic structure for the entire “day-of” timeline. Hope you don’t mind I’m passing this along Choister!

This is an Illustrator file I created which if you print it front and back on one sheet of paper can be folded and cut to create a pretty cool wedding program.

Hi, I was looking for a flower girls dress and came across your wedding posting. It it one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen from the dress to the last detail. Thank you for adding links to useful sources especially the one for the less expensive ribbon. Best to you! from Marlena in West Palm Beach, Florida
Hi Marlena,
I’m glad the post was helpful. The flower girl dresses I got were incredibly affordable — at $60/piece. I recommend that store highly. As for the ribbon, make sure you order in advance. It takes many weeks for the ribbon to arrive, a month in advance would be safe, and then even another month in case the ribbon isn’t correct.
Let me know if you have any questions whatsoever during the planning process. I have been through all the research
Take care,
Jenni
Your wedding looks absolutely beautiful! Congrats!
I really like your wedding gown~! Is that pure silk? I have been trying to find a sweetheart with empire waist wedding gown dress with no luck…it’s a pain to find a “THE dress”…I am afraid I can’t find a dress for my wedding next Spring =T
Hi Ceci, yes my dress was pure silk. It was a thinner satin material than most wedding dresses I’ve seen. What’s your price range for a dress? I may be able to recommend a few..
Hi Jenni, my budget is around $2000 and I really like silk satin material in white. Do you have any recommendation?
Hi Jenni,
I’m helping plan my cousin’s wedding and saved this post a while back as I found it very useful and inspirational. Now that her wedding is coming up in a few weeks, I’ve found that some of the resources listed here and the pictures you posted are no longer available. Is there any way you would be able to share those with me? I would really like to use your templates as well.
Thank you so much!
Hey Clara! I’ve been having the toughest time getting all my old images back from typepad. I should have everything up within the next week! Send me your email address and I’ll send you the itinerary there. Thanks for inquiring!
Ceci– if you’re still having trouble finding the perfect dress, you should do what I did and try looking around bridal shops. A lot of them will have really great non-bride dresses as well. See what’s near you by looking on http://www.gatheringguide.com/ec/bridal_shops_dresses.html. I came up with 17 of them even for my small area.
Hi there,
I’m also from the bay area, and was considering Villa Montalvo as a venue. The grounds are absolutely amazing, and negates any need to spend a fortune on decorations. I’m wondering about the set up of your event – the dance floor is separate from the dinner/patio area, right? Did you find this awkward at all, especially during the father/daughter dance, first dance, cutting of the cake, etc.? Also, how happy were you with Le Papillon? Lastly, could you please give me a ballpark figure what your reception at Villa Montalvo + Le Papillon cost? I would most likely be picking this venue and caterer. Thanks !!
Best,
Michelle
