Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot: Not to Prime is a Crime!

I wanted to let you all in on a new beauty regimen that I’ve been hoarding to myself.. I feel I should share it with somebody! Do you all prime your face before you start layering on your makeup? Well, if you don’t, take the advice that I was dished by one ultra fab gay makeup artist named Umberto at Napoleon Makeup in the San Francisco Center: "Not to prime is a crime." At first, I was a little taken aback by the price of the primer I think it was around $50 or $60 dollars. I’m guessing they dropped the price though bc it’s on $39 on their website.
So.. how was it?? Well, to tell you the truth it was more than I expected. I’ve used primer in the past and usually ditched out after a few weeks of pretending it did something to my skin. For the first time ever, I’ve used this primer to the absolute last drop. I’m out now and actually about to buy my next bottle! It glides onto your skin.. and really feels like an extra coating. My foundation goes on smoother and lasts longer through the day. Also, I used to break out once in a while on my cheeks from my blush but this hasn’t happened once since Napoleon came into my life! Umberto, wherever you are, bless you for opening my eyes to the world of real priming. You can count on me not being a repeat offender! Everyone else out there – give it a try!
Wow is this primer better then smashbox? I unfortunately just bought the smashbox primer, but you are right, not to prime is a crime! hhahhaha.. oh side note you gotta try urban decay’s eyeshadow primer, it helps with the eyeshadow crease, and makes you eyeshadow last the whole day!
Hey Tulie! I thought you might have left on vaca or something! I never see you in my blog log anymore
I’m glad you’re still coming around!! I haven’t tried Smash Box’s primer so you’ll have to let me know how that one is. I actually need a new eyeshadow primer… I used to use Mac’s peint. Have you used that before to help compare the two for us?
Wow, sounds like pretty impressive primer. I have to admit I’ve never primed… but then again, you have the most gorgeous-looking skin, so maybe I should(!) May I ask what foundation you use? I haven’t found a liquid version I like, so I’ve been dusting on various mineral varieties.
About UD’s primer potion though, I’ll second its usefulness. I’ve been following makeup blogs for the past 3 years now, and all of them swear by UDPP. I’ve used MAC paints, but they’re hard to control, and I’ve also used MAC shadesticks which work similarly (love how they enhance color intensity or layer with a different color to create iridescent effects), but can be a bit harsh-feeling when swiping them across the fragile eyelid. UDPP is really light-feeling, and works great against creasing. It’s only $16, and totally worth experimenting with.
The only complaint is the bottle shape. Even when the brush feels dry, there’s still a lot of primer inside, so it’s recommended to break the bottle open and scoop the remainder of primer into a little jar for more use.
