Twenty years. I started this blog twenty years ago, and I genuinely cannot believe I’m back here again, starting to blog again.
When I launched Luxemix I was a girl with a lot of opinions about shoes and a free afternoon. I had no idea it would turn into something real, something people actually read, something I’d still think about two decades later. But here we are. And I figured if there was ever a reason to come back, a 20th anniversary is a pretty good one.
Before we get into anything else, I owe you some context about the state of the archives. If you’ve been poking around and noticed broken photos, missing images, or posts that look a little off, that’s not a glitch. About ten years ago, Luxemix got hacked. It was a mess. Most of the images were wiped, most the posts got corrupted, and at the time I just didn’t have the bandwidth to deal with it. So I closed the laptop and let life take over.
And life really did take over.
I have four daughters now. A 16-year-old who somehow already has stronger opinions about fashion than I do. Twins who are 12 and keep me on my toes in stereo. And a 6-year-old who is currently the undisputed boss of the household. My world got very full, very fast, and Luxemix quietly got left behind.
A lot has changed in my personal life too. The chapter I’m in now looks very different from the one you might remember, and I’m navigating it one day at a time. Some things I’ll share more about eventually. Some things I’ll keep close. But I’m here, I’m good, and I’m ready to talk about more than just survival mode.
I don’t know exactly what Luxemix looks like going forward. I don’t know how often I’ll post or what direction it’ll take. But I know I want to be here more, and I’ve missed having a space that’s just mine. Twenty years in, it still feels like home.
