The outfit spoke first.
The hair, the makeup, the polish — it all became a kind of protection.
And in some ways, I’m grateful for it.
Style gave me structure when I felt uncertain.
It gave me beauty when life felt chaotic.
It gave me a way to be seen before I knew how to be known.
But there’s a quiet cost to becoming the image everyone expects from you.
You can look composed and still feel invisible.
You can look beautiful and still feel trapped.
You can look like you have it all together while slowly losing access to your own voice.
At 48, I’m not throwing away the woman who loved fashion.
I’m finally letting her breathe.
The style is still here.
The taste is still here.
The love of beauty is still here.
But now, I want the outside to reflect something deeper.
Not perfection.
Not performance.
Not armor.
Presence.
Truth.
Self-trust.
Power.
